Professor Sun is the Director International of Business Research Institute and Visiting Professor at Business School, University of Chester. His current and past academic affiliation includes Fellowships at RAI – Rothermere American Institute, University of Oxford, ASH Center, Kennedy School of Harvard University, Center for American Studies, Peking University and Asian Studies Center, SciencesPo., Paris.
Professor Sun has worked for twenty years on international marketing in both business and political sectors. He has done consulting work for organizations such as General Electric, General Signal, Thomson, Cummins, Ontario Hydro, and Canadian federal government agencies: Consulting and Audit Canada, Training and Development Canada. His past and current board member duties include Landenberg Christian Academy, Sino-Canadian Management Institute, TRM – a NASDAQ company, Newark Symphony Orchestra, the Chinese American Community Center in Delaware, Editorial Boards of Journal Political Marketing (USA) and Journal Public Affairs (UK), and Advisory Board of Jefferson Bank.
Professor Sun studied at Jiangxi University in Finance and Economics, and the Graduate School of China Academy of Social Sciences, before he went to graduate school in USA in 1985. He holds an MSc in Marketing from Pennsylvania State University where he studied PhD program and published his PhD candidacy paper, The Effects of Political Events on Foreign Direct Investment In Marketing
(Journal of Global Marketing
, Spring 1988). In July 2009, he obtained a PhD Degree in International Politics from the School of International Studies, Peking University.
Professor Sun’s research papers on “International Political Marketing” have been published in the Journal of Public Affairs
(November, 2007, and August, 2008). He is a co-author of the books: Business Opportunities in the Far East (Dow Jones, 1990), Marketing (Textbook, Tsinghua University Press 2008), An Introduction to Political Marketing (Fudan University Press, 2008), International Political Marketing (Peking University Press, 2011), and co-author of an article published in the book “Campaign for President 2012, Strategy and Tactics” (Routledge, 2013). Professor Sun has presented his research at the International Political Marketing Conference, at Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic (2015), Stockholm University, Sweden (2013), in Manchester University, UK (2008) in University of Bucharest, Romania (2007), and Beijing Forums in 2010 and 2014.
In 2009, Professor. Sun conducted political marketing research in France, sponsored by the French government under “Programme d’Invitation des Personnalités d’Avenir”. Professor Sun has given speeches and presentations at schools including Oxford University, Harvard University, SciencesPo. Paris, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Tongji University, American Studies Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Central Party School of China.
